8月25日、インフレ、ドル高などの世界的な経済の影響から、一部地域における『PlayStation 5』の値上げがSIEによって発表されました。
この発表を受けて、Windows Central 誌が、マイクロソフトに確認したところ、『Xbox Series S』および『Xbox Series X』については”価格を維持する”と、広報担当から回答を受けたとのこと。
“We are constantly evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options. Our Xbox Series S suggested retail price remains at $299 (£250, €300) the Xbox Series X is $499 (£450, €500).”
なお、Nintendo Switchについては、8月11日に、Nikkei Asia誌にて、任天堂の古川俊太郎 社長が、”値上げ”についての質問に、”考えていない”と回答しています。
Q: Are price increases an option?
A: We’re not considering that at this point, for two reasons. In order to offer unique entertainment to a wide range of customers, we want to avoid pricing people out. Our competition is the variety of entertainment in the world, and we always think about pricing in terms of the value of the fun we offer.

欧州においては、インフレとユーロドルのパリティ割れが厳しい。特にイギリスのインフレがひどいので、今後、価格変更される可能性もあるかもしれません。
時価総額が世界TOP3に入るマイクロソフト（約280兆円）と、ソニーG（約15兆円）とでは、体力差がありすぎる。そう考えると、ゲームだけの任天堂は時価総額約8兆ってすごい。
